Diabetic Retinopathy
Many people with diabetes experience blurred vision when their blood sugar is especially high or low. This blurring can also be a symptom of diabetic retinopathy due to damaged blood vessels in the retina. Diabetes is one of the leading causes of blindness among working-age Americans. In most cases, blindness can be prevented through careful control of blood sugar and high blood pressure; avoiding cigarette smoke, and through early detection and treatment. If you have diabetes, it is very important to schedule regular eye exams at least once a year or more.
